Een iconisch merk<\/span><\/h2>\n

De fabriek was gelegen langs het Leuvense Kanaal in Wilsele. Hij noemde zijn bedrijf \u201cMarie Thumas\u201d naar zijn vrouw, Marie Durieux. Beginnend met een bescheiden team van slechts twintig medewerkers, groeide het personeelsbestand tegen de jaren veertig uit tot 600 vrouwen en 300 mannen. Hoewel de verwerking van groenten gedeeltelijk handmatig bleef, deden multifunctionele machines hun intrede. Een iconisch merkDe eerste Belgische conservenfabriek werd in 1886 opgericht door de ingenieur Edmond Thumas uit Doornik. De fabriek was gelegen langs het Leuvense Kanaal in Wilsele. Hij noemde zijn bedrijf \u201cMarie Thumas\u201d naar zijn vrouw, Marie Durieux. Beginnend met een bescheiden team van slechts twintig medewerkers, groeide het personeelsbestand tegen de jaren veertig uit tot 600 vrouwen en 300 mannen. Naast de verwerking van groenten produceerde de fabriek ook een verscheidenheid aan fruitproducten en ingeblikte soepen.Belgische TopkwaliteitIn de beginjaren overheerste handarbeid, maar rond de jaren dertig omarmde Marie Thumas de automatisering. Hoewel de verwerking van groenten gedeeltelijk handmatig bleef, deden multifunctionele machines hun intrede.
